Great Linseed Muesli
The New Year, new life changing breakfast.
This is a satisfying breakfast and because of the hormonal action of the linseed it can help you maintain a balanced diet. Menopausal systems can be alleviated and with a few changes to the rest of the diet, some exercise (maybe just fast walking) getting those pounds off can be easier and enjoyable.

Steam ploughing for the new linseed crop!! It's happening this year in Sussex. My neighbour Rob Jamieson who has a steam ploughing set contacted me to say he would like to see some linseed in one of his fields. Would I like to plant some and we could use the ploughing engines. Well what a weekend that turned out to be, Rob brought his old living van out to the field, the range was lit with wood and coal what a great tasting breakfast we enjoyed.
Of course the steam engines were fired up much earlier and made ready. This was to be Rob's first steam ploughing of a whole field.
The plough was a six furrow reversible he had just finished restoring so there were lots of adjustments. Then the hard work began, at every end the plough has to be manually pulled down and positioned for the next row. Before the plough can be pulled down the winding engine whistled and the other engine just reversed the winch lifting the furrows out of the ground.
This is the reason for all the tooting; sometimes the engines cannot even see each other it may be foggy or just so far apart. Steering the plough is also testing, as one way it is just like a car you steer right and it goes right but on the way back you steer left to go right. This keeps the brain active and I am sure old steam ploughmen never got Alzheimer's disease.
During the course of the weekend the tooting of the engines brought a number of walkers to see what was going on this was a treat and a rare sight
For us, it was as if time had stood still it could have been 100 years ago, a great feeling.
Robs request was another of the good things that has happened since I started growing and pressing the linseed. Linseed is truly a magical plant whose Latin name means 'most useful', for us, today it provides omega 3 from a plant. No fish have died to give us this wonderful oil
